Hey this game looks awesome, but please please add a windowed mode. I have a 32 inch screen and full screen just is awful with this game. I can’t play it like this so sadly I can’t play it until there is a windowed mode. πŸ™

I have no idea why, but the game just won’t start. It does launch, and I see the title screen, and the music does play, and the hotkeys do work! But I can’t start the game. Am I missing something? I’ve tried everything on the keyboard.

Do I really need to be running multicore processing for this game? That’s what it says on Steam. I can run Doom 3 on high but not this game apparently. This true?

Bought it off Steam. I love it. Amazing. A must-buy for any and all Survival Horror fans. This is filling the void Silent Hill: Downpour left in me. Survival Horrors are too few and far apart. Great Work, I can’t wait for Amnesia.

Also, i’m now addicted to the Lone Survivor Soundtrack.

    Hi, Jasper!

I just wanted to say thank you for making this game!
The minute I saw it I knew I had to have it!
I’m a huge fan of Silent Hill and David Lynch and you made the game I’ve been dreaming for a long time to exist! It causes me to feel admiration and envy at the same time. Envy because that’s the game I’ve always wanted to make and never had the dedication that you had! I’m extremely grateful and satisfied that you created it!
You inspired me so much you can’t even imagine!
    So, thank you again!
Now excuse me, cause I have to go play Lone Survivor =D

    Cheers!

Jasper, As a gamer since the days of Commodore 64 (Zork, Wasteland, Below the Root), I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Lone Survivor. You can thank the guys over at No High Scores for plugging this. I listen to most of their recommendations and they were all dead on with their review of it. I just got it on Steam for my Mac and I’ll be telling all my friends to get this. I hope you are able to create more games of this caliber in the future, as your understanding of Horror Genre and psychological immersion are excellent. When you mentioned what a toll this game took on your family life, I can only imagine the late nights, and countless events you had to pass up to make this game happen at the level you wanted it to be. If it is any consolation whatsoever, please tell them that your game has effected many of your fans in ways that we have to harken back to the games of our childhood to compare this experience to. The sense of exploration, accomplishment, and genuine satisfaction that come from playing a good game cannot be faked. Which is saying a lot. Cheers man, you are an excellent game designer.

Enjoyed demo! Considering to buy a full version, but from what i’ve heard it would be much comfortable to play in windowed mode. Hope you’ll include that in the nearest update. The atmosphere of this game is amazing! Great work!

not only is this game of yours gorgeous, well done and fun, its, more importantly, everything that i loved about silent hill 2 with a david lynch like, or even at times, william s burroughs esque twist all veiled in a SNESish fashion with one of, if not THE BEST indie game sound tracks to ever penetrate my ear-holes.. it warms my heart to stumble upon a new game with a true sense of horror rooted not in shock, gore, and details, but a vague, mysterious and frustrating decent into madness.. the text, sprites and menus even have a complete satisfying feel to them like earthbound or something.. if there isnt already a fanatical following in the works, consider me henchman #1.

    Hi,

I have the same problem, except I already downloaded the game before, when I wanted to download it again from my laptop a few days after, and I had the message “LoneSurvivor-PC.zip (Not available)” when I clicked the link provided in the email I received after buying the game.

Your game is awesome, I hope this will be fixed πŸ™‚

    Hello.
Because I can’t find any other way of contacting you (can’t find any support emails listed anywhere), and that this seemed like the only way to do so, I’m commenting here regarding my Lone Survivor download.

I bought the game, followed the download link for the PC version, and started downloading it. I had to cancel the download and come back to it later. When I tried to download the game again, the download page tells me the download is “not available”.

Could you help sort this out, please?

    @Guy
Hey I know you might not even be wondering how to do this now but I found a solution that might just work for you.
I tend to use skype a lot while I play games and I really wanted to play this one while on there so I don’t have to play it in small bursts of time here and there. If there is another window you want open while playing Lone Survivor, whatever window it is, use this program and it will appear over the lone survivor screen.

This works great because by pressign q or w you can even adjust the aspect ratio in game, so you won’t be covering any of it up.

Here is the link so you can get an idea.

Hi Jasper, I’m in the *Spoilers* basement level where I have to find the generator key. I know where everything is, but I only have enough flares to get to the key or the elevator room. Is there anything I can do besides restart? I’m pretty sure I got all of the ammo/flares (even from the director).

I’ve been telling all of my friends about this game–it’s brilliant! You really nailed the atmosphere, music, story, and, well, everything! I hope that other media outlets review it and talk about it so it can get more sales, because you deserve it. Thanks so much for the awesome game!

So, is there a windowed mode? Game is great, but playing something like this on a 23 inch screen hurts the hell out of my eyes. Tried all the usual stuff, like -w at the end of a shortcut, D3Dwindower, nothing worked.

The game’s just excellent and I wanted to thank you for that.
Great job. It should have been hard so thanks again.

Two thing : I’ve got the black screen on Mac OS X but I’ve got the fix.

There is another one : the game freeze occasionally during specific actions like : put water in the empty milk bottle. Etc. You can do nothing else than restart the game but then the still bug persist. And you can go on.

Too bad. Waiting for a fix to continue !

    Thanks again.

Very nice game. Been playing it under Linux with Wine. I’ve now found one ending and would like to know if having another ending entails restarting from scratch, or if you just have to try something else in the last sequence (assuming there’s something else to be tried). Redoing it all would feel a bit boring and tedious to me.

I have to say I found the dialogues a bit lacking and frustrating (perhaps that’s because I like adventure games much more than survival horror games).

Oh and I haven’t found how to make coffee or ramen πŸ™‚ I had the kettle and the water-filled bucket (and the gas for the stove), but for some reason could not find a way to combine all that. Cooking other stuff such as beans went fine.

Bought the game and have been loving it. Atmospheric, creepy and challenging. Sometimes it takes some puzzling to figure out how to be non-violent in given situations.

There is a bug, however. *WARNING: Spoilers ahead*

I’m past the first area of the game, and every time I try to use the Gameboy on the couch, the game just freezes. I can adjust the settings via key presses, but otherwise the protagonist just stands there doing nothing.

Beautiful work, thanks for the trip. Well, the first trip at least, for now :]
Found many references to Silent Hill, especially the second, best part being the awesome game design you put in there which excels what the Silent Team did and how it affects one’s experience personnaly as well as story wise.

Graphics are just awesome, i read somewhere you also created the engine, never saw anything like this and it perfectly serves the atmosphere which even managed to give me the creeps when very few games can do it nowadays.
Oh and the sound design too…

Anyway i won’t spam, just a big thank you and hope you get the credits you deserve.

Finished it twice already. First run where I killed almost all the monsters, gave hank tons of drugs, and didn’t even find the director at first, then I was wondering who the director was after the bus section because I never met him. I believe my first ending had mental health or the blue path rank at e- .

The second run I didn’t kill any monsters, got mental health B-, and got green path rank D. Does the rank being higher gives you a better ending?

Oh, and the music in that second ending, so great.

Any idea what I can do about that?

Hey man, I bought your game this morning (because of the timezone, on your time it should be about 5 pm) and I have been playing it since the morning, stoped only to go to school and played once I got back. Hey guy,

Read the recommendation for your game on RPS (my fave PC gaming blog), went to play the demo, and then HAD to buy it. Got the basic version. Unfortunately, $50 is out of my price range, but I absolutely love the music for this (especially the track in the trailer, and that creepy as hell song/sound you hear when the monsters are attacking. Basically, I was wondering when we’ll have the opportunity to buy the OST on its own?

Saw the news on RockPaperShotgun, played the demo, enjoyed it, then decided to buy the game.

Having a blast playing it right now, this is by far much more enjoyable than this previous game made by a certain tomm hulett and devin shastky. Screw those two guys, you should have been put in charge of doing a certain sequel of this famous psychological horror game series.

Tried the demo; instant buy for me.

The atmosphere that you crafted is so thick and rich, you need a spoon to dig through it. I was a bit skeptical about a 2-d survival horror, something that hasn’t been done well since Clock Tower, but you’ve proved me wrong.

Very reminiscent of the Silent Hill games of old.

Just finished my first playthrough. Wow. I just have to say…you get it, man. I was starting to worry that a true survival horror experience would never rear it’s horrible face again. But you understand. You did what companies with million dollar market campaigns and large teams consistently fail to do. I’ll most likely be buying the first aid edition as well, because you deserve it. I hope you continue to work even though this was most likely an intensely draining experience. You just earned yourself a permanent fan.

  51. avatar

Played demo and I can say with full confidence that your game definitely surpasses the last 3 or four silent hill games while creating nostalgia of the very best games in the series. Well done. Even with such a short demo you’ve succeeded in inspiring a ton of empathy for the main character as well as establishing a world of uneasiness ,tension and intrigue.

    Five Stars.

Can’t wait to buy the full version and this is coming from a guy who usually only cares to watch play-throughs of most people’s games rather than play them.
