Humbled

Just a quick note to say, the wonderful people at Humble Inc are now providing the shop-front over at:

http://www.lonesurvivor.co.uk/buy.html

This means you’ll get a free CODENAME: RED Steam Key on purchase from now on, or the DRM-version, it’s up to you!  Everyone’s a winner!  All existing customers are getting free keys for the Humble store, and from there they can make their choice.

As I mentioned before, the Humble guys have gone out of their way to make a very smooth transition, and to take on the responsibility of my previous customers just to help me out, making sure everyone has the choice of update format.  I can’t thank them enough for their help with this!

Existing customers are most welcome to send their request at any time (see the previous blog entry for instructions.)  I think most of the Mac users have got their updates now.  We’ve still only done about 15%-20% of the purchases, so I’m trying to find a more automated way of doing it.  But apart from the odd day off, we’ll be getting back to anyone who send a request in within a day, and it’s no trouble at all for the most part…  In fact, it’s great fun reading all your kind, insightful, funny and sometimes even slightly strange messages.

It also means goodbye to the First Aid Edition, which has sold 200 copies, and for which the art cards will be done soon.  I can’t say how long it’s going to take, but I don’t want to rush it.  We already have the stamps, but we need to find the right place to print them…

Thanks to everyone who’s bought the game on my site or Steam, and especially to the First Aid customers, who’ve given me a few months freeware-experimentation-room!

I really am humbled.

– Jasper

    Hello!

Since I played your game I’ve realized that there is something magical about wandering cats and baked beans. I just have to take my hat off to you — your game is extraordinary and so is the soundtrack. Anyway, the real reason I’m writing is following: Have you already thought about translations into other languages? I’m from the Czech Republic, so I could make a translation into my language. Well, it isn’t a worldwide language, I know that. BUT I hope I’d be able to contact some native speakers from some other countries, so they could also translate the game into their languages. I’ve got contacts because of the previous game I’ve recently translated http://www.unepicgame.com/en/index.html. My name isn’t on the webpage yet but if you download the game, you can see that there really is a czech translation. Just to know I’m not trying to foolish you or something. 🙂 I don’t know if the people would really like to do that but at least I can try. So let me know if you are interested and I’ll contact them. Your game deserves that.

And of course, I wouldn’t want any money. I think that none of the translators would.

    @Jasper
    Hey Jasper,

Just wanted to say what a great game you have made!It didn’t think much of it at first, but the further I went on into the story, the more I became intrigued at “You’s” endeavors.I think the soundtrack also helps implement the feeling of despair and the fear of the uncertainty ahead of him.I absolutely love the soundtrack to the game(my favorites are “Where’s it going?”,”The Director”, and “Reflections”.nice going on the vocals on wheres it going, was it you?)Overall,I thought it was an amazing game, and had me on the edge of my seat at points, and in tears at others.(PS unfortunately, because I’m only 16,and I don’t have a work permit yet(and my parents are “cautious” with their money to say in the least :d)I was sadly forced to pirate your superb game. But, fret not!The next time I acquire enough money,I am immediately going on STEAM and buying your game for real.I know you risked life and limb making this, and I really want to help support you,for further development on this or another game.)

    Hi Felix,

The mute button might have been hit (the ‘0’ key)?

    Hi Fabio,

No plans as yet, but I’d love to try and iPad version.

    Hi Matt,

I’m working on something right now that shouldn’t take more than a week or two, but as soon as that’s done my first priority is the art cards. Sorry for the delay!

    Hi John,

I do have plans to make some more changes to the game, but it probably won’t be until next year. I want to think about doing some ports first.

    Hey Jasper,
This game has been very fun to play. When I tried the demo i disliked it but my little bro talked me into getting it. The only problems I’ve had is the sound cut off and I had to restart the game for sound to come back. I’ve also had some ideas about the game, like new items:
Shotgun, get it from gun store, when shot more creatures spawn in the area
Bread, found around like normal food, used for sandwichs
I have more, if you would like them please email me.

    Hey Jasper,

Bought this game quite some time ago (First Aid Edition), and just wondering if you yet have a definitive date on when prints will be shipped? Thanks

    Hi Jasper,
I bought your game Lone Survivor on Steam a few days ago and finally got around to play it.
Everything worked fine until I noticed at some point that the audio had disapperead.
The audio in my other games works fine so I think I can exclude a driver issue. Verifying the game files and reinstalling didn’t help either.
The game is really great so far and it would be a shame if I had to finish it without the audio. Maybe someone has a soultion to my problem?

Lone Survivor is really fun for reasons I can’t express with words… Please make more games! Since you offered a DRM-Free version I bought a few copies for my friends!

Hey ! That’s a really good news being able to buy a DRM-free version. =D
I’m thinking about buying it, now that it can be playable without Steam. It apparently works perfect via Wine.
But, it would be even better to be able to have a Linux version.
Maybe it’s already planned, since it’s released on the Humble Store ?

I’m a bit confused now. I bought the game on your site before it’s on steam. How do I get an update? Should I just email you using the email I used to purchase the game?

    Cheers Sylvan,

Good question… I’ve added a note about it in the entry.

    Cheers,

    Jasper

Congrats on getting the store up and going. Are you still continuing with the “batch” requests or can anyone who purchased previous to the steam release begin sending emails?

Thought I would ask here first instead of adding to the flood of request 🙂
